Thoroughbred breeding in Austria is concentrated in the Eastern part of the country and the industry employs a hundred of people.

 In this area are also located the two racetracks hosting gallop races in Austria, namely Freudenau racetrack based in Vienna and Magna Racino racetrack in the surroundings of Ebreichsdorf. Ten race days dedicated to gallop take place in those racecourses every year.
