EUROPEAN EQUINE CONFERENCE

22ND SEPTEMBER 2026 IN IRELAND

The European Horse Network (EHN), with the support of Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) and the European

Federation of Thoroughbred Breeders’ Associations (EFTBA), are pleased to announce the European

Equine Conference, which will take place at the Irish National Stud in Kildare, on Tuesday September

22nd, 2026.

The event has the support of Nina Carberry and Hilde Vautmans, Members of the European Parliament and Co- Chairwomen of the MEP Horse Group, and the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD.

The Conference will focus on:

• EU legislative proposals under the Irish Presidency such as the Welfare Transport regulation

and the future CAP

• The importance of the Irish breeding and racing sector and its economic impact at national

and European level

• Present for the first time, the results of the European Equine Statistical Study 2026
• The digital traceability system in place in Ireland.

A round table, moderated by Richard Pugh, Head of Racing and Insights at Horse Racing Ireland, will

discuss the importance of the Irish breeding and racing sector to Ireland and internationally.

The conference is a unique opportunity to bring together Members of the European Parliament, Irish

Government representatives, and stakeholders from across the European equine sector, for an

afternoon of open and constructive dialogue.
